Residential Conveyancer - Liverpool

An exciting opportunity is available for a Residential Conveyancer role, whether qualified or unqualified. This is a full-time, permanent position situated at our Liverpool office. While we prefer the candidate to work full-time at the office, we can consider providing flexibility for remote work for the right candidate.

Your primary responsibility will be handling a diverse caseload of residential conveyancing tasks, including sale and purchase of both freehold and leasehold properties, transfer of equity, auction, and remortgage cases. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with a conveyancing assistant.

Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking an experienced conveyancer to join our residential property team. The ideal candidate should possess confidence in handling all aspects of residential conveyancing from beginning to end. A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a conveyancing fee earner is required, and you should be ready to jump in and start contributing immediately. Legal Cashier - Liverpool

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years’ experience supporting fee earners in handling various conveyancing tasks. A positive and proactive ‘can do’ attitude is essential, enabling you to quickly integrate into the team and start making a difference right away.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for handling all financial matters related to the conveyancing department, which includes processing transactions, receipts, and payments.
  2. Ensuring compliance with SAR by monitoring client accounts and conducting necessary reconciliations.
  3. Processing both client and office account payments, including telegraphic transfers and BACS.
  4. Handling daily banking activities and effectively managing petty cash.
  5. Collaborating with fee earners and secretaries to resolve any financial queries.
  6. Preparing comprehensive daily and monthly financial reports and presenting them to the management team.
  7. Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns and end-of-year accounts.
  8. Working closely with external auditors to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  9. Identifying opportunities for process and system improvements to enhance overall financial efficiency.
  10. Performing any additional duties required by the firm as necessary.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Legal Cashier in a law firm, preferably with experience in conveyancing.
  2. Thorough knowledge of Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR).
  3. Proficiency in using legal accounting software.
  4. Exceptional numerical skills and keen attention to detail.
  5. High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  8. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  9. The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  2. Qualification in legal cashiering, such as ILFM (Institute of Legal Finance & Management) certification.
